Jen McGuinness has always loved trees, Cat gardening because murder is wrong shirt but never had much space. Growing up in New York City, she’s surrounded by trees and loves gardening, but always has to be a little creative about how and where she grows them – and even what she does. She realizes that others may find the things she learned helpful.

McGuinness is the author of the Cat gardening because murder is wrong shirt forthcoming book, Micro Food Gardening: Project Plan and Small Space Plants and Fruits, which will be released April 6, 2021. In this Q&A session, she Talk about becoming a plant enthusiast, her favorite container gardening project and what she wants to say when she says “micro-food”.
Question: Tell me about your resume. Where did you come from and how did you enjoy gardening?
Answer: I grew up in Queens, New York and live in a two-family house with a back garden. A lot of my friends and neighbors live in apartments or have a small outdoor garden space.
I am lucky in that, I grew up in a gardening family – my mother loves farming, my dad grows decorations and my grandfather focuses on fruit trees. I spent a lot of my childhood around trees, and as a teenager I read a lot of gardening books for fun.
Q: When and why did you start your blog, Frau Zinnie?
A: I want to record what’s going on in my garden, but I think it’ll also be fun to cover gardening events and interviews with experts. Blogging is a combination of reporting and creatively recording what’s growing in my garden. I also like to introduce pictures of plants and wildlife that visit and live in the garden.
Q: What did you learn from the Cat gardening because murder is wrong shirt Frau Zinnie writing that you brought with you while writing and gardening?
A: I was able to interview gardening experts and cover gardening events, such as the New York Botanical Garden Orchid Show and the Philadelphia Flower Show. Since I am also a garden blogger, I have attended three times before Garden Blogger Flings, where I not only get to meet (great) garden bloggers but [also] visit private gardens.
I feel like you never stop learning when you are a gardener, and you always have great tips or tricks, whether that person is passionate about growing dahlias, growing their own food or how much. include plants for pollination in their design.
