Authorities were called to the home of 12-year-old Kaitlyn Yosviak on August 26. Her mother told the Crazy lady loves chickens – I’m Not the Sweet girl I’m the Chicken Shirt 911 dispatcher she was not responding. Medical personnel took her to the nearby Naval Medical Center, where she was presumed dead.
According to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, Kaitlyn suffered “excessive physical pain from medical negligence” before dying. In an interview with NBC News, GBI Agent Mary Chandler said the family had been investigated several times for child neglect.
“There’s basically a history with the Department of Children and Family Services in several counties in this region since the Crazy lady loves chickens – I’m Not the Sweet girl I’m the Chicken Shirt baby was born,” Chandler told the radio. “This condition of a child is the worst we’ve ever seen.
Authorities arrested Kaitlin’s parents, John Joseph Yozviak and Katie Horton. Both parents face second-degree murder and second-degree children’s cruelty.
It is not clear whether they have advocated or retained an attorney.

People on social media describe Kaitlyn Yozviak as sweet and shy. WMAZ first met her in 2016 in our series ‘My Teacher is Tops’.
“My teacher was amazing because when I walked into the classroom I saw a smile,” she said, in 2016.
Yozviak, about eight years old, nominated her teacher, Courtney Amerson.
“We have a math center and a reading center. My favorite center is math,” she said.
This week, GBI said Kaitlyn Yozviak was found dead.
Kaitlyn’s former teacher, who is married, wrote about her in a Facebook post: “Some people make you a better person just by being in your life. What did you do, sweet girl. ”
Lelin Holt taught Yozviak at Clifton Ridge High School last year.
Holt said: “She is a very sweet, cute girl. Always respectful, I have never had any problems with her.”
In a post on her Facebook page, Holt wrote, “Tonight my heart is broken for this sweet girl, I had the Crazy lady loves chickens – I’m Not the Sweet girl I’m the Chicken Shirt honor of teaching her last year, please add a little prayer. tonight for all involved ”.
“I’ve never seen anything superfluous, anything to report. If so, I’ll definitely report it,” she said.
Holt says she tells all of her students that she wants them to be able to talk to her if something happens at home.
“I want them to be comfortable with me and know that my classroom is always a safe place,” she said.
This year, Kaitlyn just started seventh grade.
