The second case was confirmed as part of the Daycare Gift – Shirts for Daycare – Daycare Christmas gift – Gift for Daycare worker T-shirt cohort currently in self-quarantine as the first was confirmed at the nursery on Tuesday.
The Rainbow Board said an outbreak was announced at the kindergarten.
Letter from Rainbow’s director of education, Norm Blaseg, explains that according to provincial guidelines, an outbreak is identified as two or more lab-confirmed COVID-19 cases in children, staff/homes. Epidemiologically relevant providers or other visitors within the 14 day period, during which at least one case is reasonably likely to contract their infection in a child care setting
Thu said no there is evidence of wide spread in kindergartens or schools at this time.
The kindergarten remains open, and the Daycare Gift – Shirts for Daycare – Daycare Christmas gift – Gift for Daycare worker T-shirt before and after school programs at Algonquin also continue to operate. Algonquin Street Public School is also open.
As a precaution, intensive cleaning and disinfection will take place before classes begin this morning, the administrators said.
