Members of the caucus prompted Biden to name Lujan Grisham, the first Democrat Latina elected as governor in the United States, as his candidate for Minister of Health and Human Services. The push is part of a broader effort to pressure Biden to place more Latin or Latina nominees into the top positions of his administration. Arizona Rep. Raul Grijalva told CNN that during the meeting, members expressed their disappointment, hurt, and disappointment over Lujan Grisham’s treatment.
