Members of the Hispanic American Congress Caucus expressed frustration during a meeting with President-elect Joe Biden’s transition group leaders on Thursday with how they believe New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham was treated in the Excuse Me I’m Speaking Kamal Harris Joe Biden Harris 2020 Lgbt limited Shirt Cabinet selection process.

Members of the caucus prompted Biden to name Lujan Grisham, the first Democrat Latina elected as governor in the United States, as his candidate for Minister of Health and Human Services. The push is part of a broader effort to pressure Biden to place more Latin or Latina nominees into the top positions of his administration. Arizona Rep. Raul Grijalva told CNN that during the meeting, members expressed their disappointment, hurt, and disappointment over Lujan Grisham’s treatment. The meeting is held virtually with the upcoming White House Chief of Staff Ron Klain, as well as Biden’s key transition team leaders Jeffrey Zenit and Ted Kaufman.
