Last November, I was admitted to Cook’s Children’s Health System (don’t worry – they don’t actually cook for kids!) For my bone marrow transplant. Forever a Nurse Diamond shirt, hoodie, tank top, sweater

Before I was admitted to the hospital, I told my bone marrow transplant doctor, Dr. (Gretchen) Eames, that I wanted to grow up and become a doctor but I didn’t know if I could do it, because I didn’t have a good way of projecting.
When my brother fell into the Forever a Nurse Diamond shirt, hoodie, tank top, sweater chair at our house, a lot of blood, I told him that he was going to die. But Dr Eames said I would see a lot of doctors and nurses, learn from them and take what I liked best from them. She was right.
I spent 60 days in isolation. I only had my mother, father, grandmother and aunts Micki and Brandi visit me. The Forever a Nurse Diamond shirt, hoodie, tank top, sweater doctors and nurses who worked with me became my friends and family. My favorite nurse is McKenzie Siegmund, B.S.N., RN. She is good, beautiful, smart and funny. But what I really like is that she is my friend, and she listens to me and helps me.
When I received chemotherapy, I had real mucosal inflammation and I couldn’t swallow it. I put the Forever a Nurse Diamond shirt, hoodie, tank top, sweater NG tube (nasal-stomach catheter) for 30 days because I could not eat. Nurse McKenzie told me she had great confidence in me and knew I could do it.
She taught me how to swallow. She encouraged me to try my best and try my best, and she believed in me to the point where I began to believe in myself. I don’t want to be a doctor anymore; I wanted to be a nurse – a nurse like McKenzie, so I could help the sick kids and I could believe in them the way she believed in me. I also think nurses should be paid higher than doctors, but that’s another essay.
