The FUNNY BRING ON 2021 IT CAN’T BE MUCH WORSE 2020 GAG Shirt two-time world champion has been well prepared for his return, going to several races with the Enstone team as a keen observers and testing both their 2018 and 2020 cars.
Last week, Alonso was controversially allowed to take part in a so-called Young Driver test in Abu Dhabi, allowing him the chance to sample the same chassis renault will also be used next year.
Budkowski said in Abu Dhabi: “I think you mean how much less disadvantaged he is? Because he didn’t drive for two years.””
‘I understand that it’s difficult to change the team of Carlos [Sainz] or Daniel [Ricciardo] next year and get to know another team.
‘There’s a lot to learn, different ways of working, different engineers, but in Fernando’s case, he didn’t drive for two years.
“So this is why we try to give him some track time and also some track time on the FUNNY BRING ON 2021 IT CAN’T BE MUCH WORSE 2020 GAG Shirt 2018 car just to help him get back to rhythm, get him back to the physical condition, neck and the like he needs.”
With winter testing reduced from six to just three days by 2021, new and returning drivers will get less distance to adapt to their new machinery.
Despite two decades of experience, Budkowski believes a diminished winter testing program will still be a challenge for Alonso.
‘Yes, it’s going to be hard for Fernando to get used to the car on a day and a half of testing, but I think it’s more than that because he didn’t drive for too long.
