The last official day the Queens store will open is February 15 and the store is one of 128 stores across the continent scheduled to close. All stores will close at the end of March and it is unclear how many workers will lose their jobs.

In a statement, Godiva noted that the Funny Gift – Queens Are Born In December shirt closures resulted from an increase in online shopping as well as the sale of products at grocery stores and other retail locations.

“At the same time, in this market, the demand for a direct shopping experience offered through traditional Godiva locations has weakened due to the epidemic and the increase in consumer shopping behavior,” the statement read.

Godiva opened its Queens Center store after expanding and renovating the $275 million mall in 2004, and the site sells “freshly dipped cakes,” luxury chocolate gift boxes and chocolate butter biscuits and short butter biscuits, according to its website.

The Funny Gift – Queens Are Born In December shirt chocolate company, founded in Brussels in 1926, plans to continue opening its stores in Europe, the Middle East and China.

“We are always focused on what consumers need and how they want to experience our brand, which is why we made this decision,” Nurtac Afridi, CEO of Godiva, said in a statement.
