Arnaud Desbiez leads a Ghost Face Mask I Survived The Great Crisis Of 2020 Boo Sheet Shirt team of biologists, but their work is more reminiscent of the work of paleontologists. They walk through Brazilian biomes on the Cerrado grasslands, the Atlantic Forest and the Pantanal swamps, looking for any indication of the presence of an animal that is rarely seen despite the stimulus. Its size: giant arms.

“It’s basically a jungle ghost,” says Desbiez. “Most people don’t even know that. The connection to the giant armadillo is through indirect evidence. Finding one is like finding a needle at the bottom of a tank.
According to Desbiez, one of the major threats to the giant arm (Priodontes maximus) is essentially a lack of knowledge about it.
Looking to change that is Project Giant Armadillo, founded in 2010 by two Brazilian organizations, the Institute for Ecological Research (IPE) and the Wildlife Conservation Institute (ICAS). They made some of the largest discoveries of the 20 armadillo species in the world.
The giant arm is a nocturnal creature that spends most of its time inside the large and ingenious network of tunnels it dug, which helps explain why seeing them is so rare. It can weigh up to 50 kg (110 pounds) and grow to 1.5 meters (5 feet) in length from snout to tail. It is also a lone organism.
The giant Armadillo was protected by a suit of armor consisting of scales and armed with scythe claws. The largest of the claws measured about 14 centimeters (5.5 inches) long – larger than that of the polar bear.
“It’s like a living fossil,” says Desbiez. “The first picture I took of a giant armadillo changed my life.” That was almost 10 years ago, and even then Desbiez didn’t see the animal directly: the photo came from a photo trap in the state of Mato Grosso do Sul.
The temperature inside the giant arm cave is usually around 25 ° C (77 ° F). Therefore, other species often use it to protect themselves from the intense heat and cold. Image provided by Project Giant Armadillo.
Data generation using technology
Much of the research done by the Giant Armadillo Project team – gathered through field surveys, GPS equipment and camouflage camera traps scattered throughout the forest – have yet to be announced.
These technologies have enabled researchers to create an unprecedented record for a giant armadillo in nature. Camera traps have since captured three other tiny giant animals. “I believe one of our biggest discoveries has been about its re-creation,” says Desbiez. “We have found that the females usually replace their holes every one or two nights suddenly stay in one for 25 days. After giving birth, she took the Ghost Face Mask I Survived The Great Crisis Of 2020 Boo Sheet Shirt puppy to another cave and stayed there for another 15 days. Then she changed the loopholes again.
Thanks to this Brazilian initiative, biologists now know that a giant armadillo pregnancy lasts about five months, with the mother giving birth to a single child. “It was previously thought that there should be one or two puppies, but our studies have shown the birth of one, with a three-year gap between each pregnancy,” Desbiez said.
Since the end of 2019, the Giant Armadillo Project biologists have also relied on a new technology that could help with further exploration. They implanted a GPS device in the abdomen with an activity tracker in seven animals. Through the Ghost Face Mask I Survived The Great Crisis Of 2020 Boo Sheet Shirt generated data, the team found that the giant Tatu was active for about five hours at night, walking an average of 2 km (1.2 miles) during this period.
Their 10 years of research led to the Ghost Face Mask I Survived The Great Crisis Of 2020 Boo Sheet Shirt publication of about 30 articles and the production of a BBC documentary, “Hotel Armadillo”, aired in 2017. In 2015, Project Giant Armadillo won an award. the Whitley Prize, known in the conservation community as the “Green Oscar”.
