Can’t keep up with the number of local gin new to the market, but Gincident is a good opportunity to try. Here are five must-try items at this weekend’s event.
South Australia’s gin industry has flourished for a long time, and praise and recognition from local and international industries have kept pace.

Last year saw the launch of Gincident, a celebration of domestically produced gin everything, and with its return this year, taking place at Hart’s Mill this Saturday, December 14th, offers another chance to examine what’s best being done with juniper soles here in South Australia and beyond.
You can find a complete list of producers that show up at Gincident this weekend at the website (where you can also buy tickets), but for the event preview, we have compiled gins and the best new distilled wine you may not have tried.
Lovers will have the opportunity to sample spirits from more than 20 distilleries when Gincident returns to Hart’s Mill in Port Adelaide. There are also cocktails by The Howling Owl, food carts, premium classes, live music, retail stalls and games. Starting from noon until 7 pm, with a pre-sale ticket (here) costs $ 25. CityMag provided a live preview of the event with a compilation of the best new gins and distilleries. View full lineups and other event information on the official Gincident website.
It’s no secret South Australia is producing a huge amount of new, tested and delicious gins. They are a defining part of the new wave of gin in Australia.
Gincident is a festival dedicated to things (usually) that clearly debuted in 2018. The event is back in 2019 and brings together more than 20 distillers from all over the country.
Representing SA will be Never Never Distilling Co (winner of the best gin award in the world earlier this year), Pro Prohibited Liquor Co, Imperial Measures Distilling, Happenstance Distillery, Seppeltsfield Road Distillers, Kangaroo Island Spirits, 5Nines Distilling, Ambleside Distillers, and more.
They will be joined by celebrities from the interstate including International Famous Gin Distillery of the Year, Victoria’s Four Pillars, Sydney’s Archie Rose Distilling Co, and Tasmania’s McHenry Distillery.
There will be free tasting sessions and gin classes. And at the main bar, run by gin den The Gincident An event which occurs due to too many gins shirt Howling Owl, sip cocktails made with gins you’ve just been introduced to.
You’ll also find drinks from Squatters Collective, a new cellar for handcrafted (and non-alcoholic) beverage brands, including Mischief Brew, Juice Quest, and BLK MRKT Coffee.
There will also be a list of cracked foods. Think Staazi & Co, Adelaide’s best vegan Greek business, grazing box experts Forage & Feast, and Spanish Gourmet Paella and The Gincident An event which occurs due to too many gins shirt Sweet Spaniard Churros.
