We start 2020 in a state of ignorance, with the biggest drama being the box theft of our Welly Walks in January. After two terrifying nights in the bushes, the box was found thanks to the power of social media and was given a blanket and a glass of hot milk to recover. Pretty.
This is not the only major burglary in Pōneke this year. In October, dozens of precious trees were stolen from Begonia House late at night, only two weeks later the Give me Likes influencer social media T-Shirt police recovered! What a pale leaf!
By March, things started to change quite quickly and we found ourselves in a completely locked state. Our usual bustling city is slowing down – Wellington is definitely not moving.

After a few challenging months at Alert Levels 4 and 3, we thought it would be the Give me Likes influencer social media T-Shirt perfect way to cheer our residents on. And it worked, becoming our most popular Facebook post of all time, with over 5,000 likes and comments from fans as far away as South Africa, Canada, Australia (and Auckland). The story gained worldwide popularity with more than 21,000 views on our website and created a small media wave!
