The Gymnastik Fliegen ohne Flgel, Turner Shirt city of Houston is preparing for mass distribution of the COVID-19 vaccine but says it needs greater supply.
While the Houston Department of Health organizes logistics and support staff, Mayor Sylvester Turner said vaccine supplies are the only thing the city can’t control.

“We can’t have as much supply and supply as you know from the CDC, to the state, then to us,” Turner said during a news conference Thursday afternoon.
Turner said the Gymnastik Fliegen ohne Flgel, Turner Shirt state expects to offer more doses of the vaccine next week. However, the volume is below the level that the city needs for mass distribution.
According to Turner, the ultimate goal is to vaccinate more than 5,000 people every day at each of the city’s supersite vaccination locations. The city currently vaccinates about 1,000 people a day at one location.
So far, Houston has received more than 8,100 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, according to the mayor.
The Gymnastik Fliegen ohne Flgel, Turner Shirt COVID-19 vaccine is available free of charge to everyone and is now available to those who meet the Phase 1A and 1B criteria. Appointments are required and based on the availability of vaccines.
Officials said all of the city’s COVID-19 vaccination appointments for this weekend were filled.
“As we get more, we can do more,” Turner said.
According to Dr. David Persse of the Houston Department of Health, the vaccine is working. Of the nearly 1.9 million doses of the Pfizer vaccine distributed, 21 were allergic reactions and no deaths were reported.
