Communications Director Melissa Richard said sending a $25 gift card to all 16,264 west Fargo households would cost the city about $425,000 plus about $10,000 in marketing costs to educate the public about the card. The city is working with a specialist supplier who can help facilitate the card and redistribute money to participating businesses. The provider also has a tracking system so the city can know where the money is being used and how it is spent. Suppliers can then return the I’d Rather Be With My Blue Tongued Skink Vintage Lizard Gift hot Shirt money to the business within about a week.
Richard said West Fargo businesses are absorbing the idea. The “Love Your Local” gift card will only be sent to West Fargo households and will only be effective when doing business in West Fargo. Gift cards are not only used in one place. Some participating businesses may also have options for using online gift cards. The $1,000 gift card draw will then be held in March.
