During the live-streamed conversation, Hagen said the If You Think It’s Too Expensive To Take Of Veterans Then Don’t Send Them To War New Shirt men and women enlisted to serve their country received excellent training and although they were expected to do difficult things in extreme circumstances, they were proud to have sacrificed for their country.
“But, when they come back … that’s when the veterans I work with are really struggling.”
Hagen also said that in some cases, veterans feel closer to their fellow armed forces members than their families because of the shared experiences they have in conflict zones.
He said: “I hear many veterans feel incredibly lonely and short, even though they have done incredible things abroad.
“They have seen or done things that they cannot say to their families and they cannot speak to people who are civilians.”
Veterans face significant challenges as they try to move on to life in their home country, which can include financial, professional, emotional, physical and psychological troubles.
The speakers said mental health conditions such as PTSD, anxiety and depression were often the cause of many of their difficulties.
