The number of COVID-19-related hospital admissions has decreased by nearly half from this point a month ago in Dallas County.
The state reported its lowest COVID-19 patient count since June 30. But good news is coupled with warnings from medical staff.

Dallas county hospital staff are able to exhale rapidly as they continue to care for coronavirus patients.
When FOX 4 spoke to Parkland Hospital’s Nursing Director Kathy Doherty in early July, Parkland Hospital opened its fourth COVID unit. The number of people hospitalized is high and increasing.
“We have referred more than 170 to 180 patients,” said Doherty. “That’s a remarkable number of patients.”
On Wednesdays, the number of patients is almost half.
“We still have all four units open, but the unit capacity has decreased,” said Doherty. “So we’re somewhere around 80 patients between four units.”
Dallas County reported 428 COVID-19 patients hospitalized on Wednesday. A month ago on July 18, there were 794 COVID-19 patients at hospitals in Dallas.
Health officials all say the masks have made a difference in slowing the spread, but they remain on guard.
