In about 50 days since the seeds began to grow, a pumpkin in Cary gained almost 700 pounds.
“It’s a long-running project and we’re not done yet,” explains Mark Peacock.
Peacock says he’s been developing what he describes as ‘crazy stuff’ for years.

Previously, he held the Guinness World Record for the hottest chili in the world before the Carolina Reaper appeared. After that, he and his family tried to plant the tallest sunflower in the world.
When Daniel’s son’s class was tasked with growing pumpkins, Peacock decided to go one step further and tried to plant a giant pumpkin.
“I bought a seed that’s supposed to cost 500 pounds,” he said. “We developed it, and then it was just research. We did a lot of research online and figured out what to do, what shouldn’t.”
One of the first times it was weighed on June 28, it weighed about 13 pounds. On August 12, it reached 677 pounds.
Pumpkin Cary nearly 700 pounds
Peacocks planted pumpkin seeds in early March, when the coronavirus outbreak first started. Since then, it became a project for the family at home.
“I’ve got a whole family there, people are pruning flowers, fertilizing, and watering,” Peacock said.
Peacock said he hopes the pumpkins will begin to run out of steam within the next few weeks.
“If we went up to £ 700, I would be surprised,” he explained.
So you’ve decided to really attract some spectacular fruits and vegetables from your backyard in recent months. Unfolding tomatoes, squash that is bigger than you might think, and berries? Small but delicious, for sure.
And how will those pumpkins come? You can see some promising leaf actions, and the kids may have talked about what kind of pumpkin they were going to make.
But don’t worry if a giant pumpkin vine doesn’t fit your 2020 gardening plan, as the pumpkin garden at Tanaka Farms in Irvine, one of Southern California’s most popular seasonal destinations, will return again.
In fact, the farm, which is currently open and sells all kinds of farm produce, just posted a photo of its growing pumpkin trees, a morale-enhancing window for autumn.
“The Tanaka farm here is getting ready for fall! Our pumpkins are officially starting to show up and we couldn’t be more excited!” shared articles enthusiastically. “Is anyone else excited about our pumpkins?”
There’s also a Scarecrow Competition and if your fanciful fall character is selected, it will be shown on the Tanaka Farms property, right in the patch.
Cool beans, or perhaps we mean “cool nut” here.
