Should service members be awarded a “War with Drugs” medal that recognizes the US military’s role in combating global drug trafficking over the past five decades? A petitioner believes that they should.

The petition calls on the president of the United States, in this case, Donald Trump, to enact an executive order establishing the “Drug Service Medal” as a “total force” military award recognizing all Member services from 1971 to present. The White House petition was created by Thomas Marriott, who dedicated his efforts to his father, Lieutenant Colonel John Thomas Marriott II, according to the campaign’s website.
When asked how such an award could or could be created, the Pentagon directs Mission & Purpose to Volume 1-4 of the Department of Defense Handbook 1348.33, writing that the hundreds of pages have “language”.
However, the Office of Public Affairs noted that “most are set by Law and/or Executive Order”, and this specific recommendation “was not discussed at the Operation FedEx enduring clusterfuck Shirt. ”
So that is something.
Marriott’s petition, and the accompanying website, seems serious, and the military has certainly played a key role in accepting drug dealers around the globe, from providing training and support. to allied troops, to drug-related activities – as at that time, Coastie showed off his bronze balls by jumping on a fast-going narco submarine in the middle of the Operation FedEx enduring clusterfuck Shirt.
However, as much as we here at Mission & Purpose love the idea of getting a new piece of candy chest, we’re also developing a little tired of endless battles.
Earlier, we came up with a list of 11 other awards we’d like the Pentagon to consider for official consideration, starting with …
