The North Nottinghamshire event will be held at Thoresby Park on September 27th. The mid-range race will also welcome many professional athletes, including Don’s fellow Olympian Lucy Hall and athlete. ITU / 70.3 Adam Bowden.
Organizers are expecting Outlaw X to have the strongest field ever gathered at an Outlaw event. The returning champion, Simon George, will wear the number 1 shirt and be the first to start the race, being run on a time trial format.
He will be followed closely by Andy Horsfall-Turner, Reece Barclay, Adam Bowden and Tim Don. Also in the field will be local athletes Tom Davis and Jimmy Kershaw, aged grouper Kona Lewis Eccleston, professional athletes Will Munday and Will Cowen, who came second after Will Clarke at Outlaw Half Holkham last year.
This will be a rare opportunity to see 220 British legends and legends, Don, 42, racing across England. The British have mastered every distance from the 2006 ITU world championship to the Iron Man world record breaker in 2017. Bowden, a steadfast member of the ITU for many years, now focuses successfully on Medium distance and best timing events are 3:40:11 over long distances.
The women’s race looks set to be a double between Lucy Hall and Ruth Astle, but there are other strong female athletes, including last year’s runner-up Hannah Peel. The hall will start with the leaders. That is the power of her swimming; she could be blinded by other women for a significant portion of the race, but Astle recently finished third at the National 100mile TT event and will be chased on the 56mile one lap course.
Outlaw X takes place at Thoresby Park in North Nottinghamshire, an ideal location for social detachment with a large, beautiful parkland. Athletes will start individually between 7:10 am and about 9:10 am, meaning everyone is stretched out on the pitch.
