Since its founding in 2002, the African Union has come under pressure to address the far-reaching challenges of peace and security that the continent faces. The AU’s African Peace and Security Architecture were established when the organization adopted the Protocol on the Establishment of the Peace and Security Council in July 2002. It is guided by the mandate of the AU and the local government. the legal intervention of this organization.

Peace and Security Council
The Peace and Security Council is the primary decision-making body of peace and security architecture and can make decisions on a number of sides. Including:
implements the AU’s general defense policy,

authorization and oversight of peace aid missions,
recommend Article 4 (h) interventions for situations of war crime, genocide, and crimes against humanity, and
impose sanctions on unconstitutional changes of government, to name some.
