Georgia’s Republican Governor Brian Kemp also announced on Friday afternoon that he would be formalizing his certification, as required by state law. Before that, there was a bit of confusion the previous Friday, when the Georgia state office secretary announced at noon that the result had been certified, but more than an hour later said the Recall Kemp Remove Georgia Republican Governor Brian new Shirt notice was false and Certification has not occurred. But at around 4 p.m. Eastern Friday, the office confirmed in a news release that it had officially announced it.

However, even though the results have been confirmed, Trump must still request another tally in Georgia until Tuesday. Raffensperger ordered, and the state did a manual audit of all the results in the state – but Trump could require a recount by machine, which the state would pay for. Even so, no recount has removed anything close to a 12,000-vote lead, and even Trump has downplayed the possibility that a recount will bring him first.

But Georgia is the rare close state where Republicans control both the Recall Kemp Remove Georgia Republican Governor Brian new Shirt governor and the state legislature, meaning a partisan plot here is at least theoretically conceivable. State legislature leaders, however, have given no indication they will try this. Currently, 16 Georgia electoral votes seem to be watching to come to Biden.
For some, Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger was a hero for defending the integrity of a vote without widespread fraud. To others who believed Trump’s statement, he was an easily mocked target who allowed the election to be rigged for Democrat Joe Biden in Georgia.
