Keepers spotted the small child one morning while he was hugging his mother. Marilyn gave birth a few weeks earlier than expected.
“We knew Marilyn was coming to the end of her pregnancy, but thought she had a little more time to go because we didn’t see any signs of her daily storytelling – such as heading to a cozy corner or performance area to Marcel McKinley, the zoo’s lazy baby spokesman said in a statement.
I’m Marilyn’s longtime partner, Leander.
“This is Marilyn and Leander’s fifth child, so obviously she’s done it all in her stride, giving us a fun surprise to wake up,” says McKinley.
Mother and child spent their first days on high in the leafy rainforest of their habitat. After a while, Marilyn took the baby to explore and the care home was able to take a closer look. Baby keeper will not know the sex of the Sloth I’m Not Feeling Very Worky Today Shirt child until they have the opportunity to analyze its DNA samples.

Mr Marcel said: “The sloth has a long pregnancy so the newborn develops well physically and can eat solid food immediately.” By the time she was 3 weeks old, Marilyn’s young daughter was curious, constantly using her nose to sniff out junk food – which is why we gave her the name Truffle.”
The two-toed sloth (Choloepus didactylus) lives in the canes of the rainforests of Central and South America. Sloths are considered some of the slowest animals in the world. Nommodic mammals have long, curved and sharp claws, 3 to 4 inches (8 to 10 cm) long. Those claws help them cling to the branches, but make walking very difficult. That is why they spend a lot of time in trees.
According to the University of Michigan’s Animal Diversity Website, sloths are also very strong swimmers with glossy body and thick fur that help them quickly cross the Sloth I’m Not Feeling Very Worky Today Shirt water. They usually spend 15 hours a day sleeping.
