This year, the state requires county election officials to send a ballot by mail to all voters registered prior to the election, at an additional cost of approximately $ 65 million. The goal is to have fewer people voting directly because of the coronavirus.
Nearly 60% of voters have registered to vote before Election Day. Now, the state’s Democratic leaders are considering making it a long-term option. In an election where the We Won Vice American Flag Election Shirt odds are too thin, Nevada could play a pivotal role in deciding who will be president. But some mail ballots may be omitted in the final issue.
Nevada’s first majority mailed general election is in the book. But some mail responses have not been counted as they were sent incorrectly.
Heather Carmen is the Washoe County Voter Registration Assistant. She said when that happens, voters have nine days after Election Day to fix the problem.
This figure, published at 4:45 pm, includes more than 4 million mail ballots. About 22 million Californians registered to vote in the November election, a record.
And more votes are likely to come. They must arrive on November 20 to go to the county registry office, as long as they have been postmarked by Election Day. Yolo County has a record turnout of voters for the 2020 presidential election, but about a third of the votes still count, according to county election officials.
More than 99,000 residents voted in the We Won Vice American Flag Election Shirt election, according to Registrar Jesse Salinas. Of that number, nearly 38,000 votes were still counted, with the majority being mail ballots.
Overall, about 83% of registered Yolo County voters voted.
“Over the past 30 years, we’ve had about 76% of voters registered to vote for presidential elections, so these numbers are historic,” Salinas wrote in a statement. “We appreciate the public’s patience as we work diligently to make sure every eligible vote counts.”
These numbers are subject to change, as counties will accept postmarked ballots by November 3, arriving no later than 17 days after Election Day. Yolo County will update the next election results at 4 pm on Friday.
