Most recently, he has directed Miley Cyrus’ Plastic Hearts, producing, composing, and helping with guitar, bass, keyboard, percussion and background vocals. This effort saw Cyrus, with Watt’s help, transform her rock music dramatically (there were plenty of brilliant, bright guitar pieces, as well as duets with Billy Idol and Joan Jett, right from the start), and brought her the singer First Throne. Billboard’s Top Album Rock chart.
Even outside of all this work, Watt’s 2020 has no shortage of excitement. He celebrated his 30th birthday with an assassin all-star skirmish with members of Metallica, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Jane’s Addiction, Foo Fighters and more, taking on a live guitar battle. line with Post Malone and even signed and recovered from a serious match with COVID.
Now, Watt will finish 2020 with a Grammy nomination for Producer of the Year, Mens Never Underestimate An Old Man With A Guitar T-Shirt a nod he calls “total surprise.” And he’s looking forward to 2021, with a solo album being released, as well as a second disc with Ozzy in the works.
It sounds like a year of work. But with Watt’s record, he’s just getting started.
