Gasoline-powered scooters like Vespa and non-motor scooters like Razors have been around for a long time, but with the mobility Scooter might look like 2020 Shirt rise of companies like Lime and Bird, electric scooters have become popular images on the Street.

In early 2020, I found myself riding an electric motorbike instead of going to the more expensive Uber and Lyft. So in February, I decided to bite the bullet and buy my own. Going around San Francisco in my tiny Xiaomi Mi electric scooter but my speed is one of the highlights of this very weird and mostly indoors electric car in 2020. My feeling of going down The mobility Scooter might look like 2020 Shirt San Francisco Embarcadero at sunset watching the Bay Bridge was an experience that was deeply ingrained in my mind, and one that I can’t wait to see again when we return to work at the office.
My introduction to electric scooters was at the 2019 South by Southwest conference, where more than 8,000 electric scooters from Uber, Lyft, Bird, and Lime took over downtown Austin, Texas. Although the number of scooters and conference participants made it seem like chaos, soaring up and down the humble Austin hills was an explosion.
I have lived without a car for 5 years and I usually walk around San Francisco on foot, using public transport, or sharing Lyft and Uber cars. I usually just share trips on the weekends or to and from my league football matches and for a while that is affordable. But that changed in January 2020 when Lyft and Uber increased their ride prices under the new California law. Luckily for me, the electric motorbike was back in the city after a short time being banned, so I replaced my ride with a scooter rental.
I started zooming through the mobility Scooter might look like 2020 Shirt neighborhoods of San Francisco’s Mission District and Mission Bay, paying around $ 4 to $ 9 for a ride. It was so much more fun than Uber carpooling that I finally started to figure it out and consider if buying my own scooter would make more sense. At the rate at which I’m going, on average I make close to $ 20 a week on scooter rides, which would go to a little over $ 1,000 over the course of a year.
I started researching various electric scooters that I could buy. The best-rated model is the Xiaomi Mi electric scooter. At the time, it was available on Amazon for $ 377 (these days it is listed for $ 499.99). I envisaged that I could spend $ 150 a year on maintenance like a flat tire, and I think it could take me at least two years to use a scooter. That means the cost of owning a scooter will probably go up to $ 700 in two years which is much more reasonable than continuing to rent which would make it easy for me to spend $ 2,000 at the same time. I ordered and the metallic black ride arrived from Amazon just a few days later.
