Two years ago, residents of West Windsor founded SR Mosaic, a non-profit organization that aims to amplify diverse voices and promote empathy and awareness of different cultures. “The concept of the foundation goes back many years,” she said. “Five women come together. Our mission statement is to bring a diverse community together – perhaps through community events, cultural workshops, and fundraising activities. ”
When West Windsor Historical Association’s Paul Ligeti approached her with an idea that seemed to encompass all of those foundations, she jumped at the opportunity to help. Together, they lead the The Voices head keep telling me to go Camping 2020 Shirt Voices of West Windsor project, a collaboration between the historical society and SR Mosaic that aims to enable people from all cultures to tell their stories about life in West Windsor.
Megha Rastogi, daughter of Shikha and interviewer Voices of West Windsor said: “We just wanted to highlight the community members who made an impact on the community, moving them forward and letting them be more public take. “We think it is important for the community to unite and recognize the work we have done and what still needs to be done.”
The first person the Voices of West Windsor interviewed was Denia Smith, and that conversation got stuck with Megha. Smith is a teenage political activist and advocate for human rights and social justice. She led a protest for the The Voices head keep telling me to go Camping 2020 Shirt Black Lives Matter and was a powerful resource for people of color in the West Windsor-Plainsboro school district.
Smithsonian’s Museum on Main Street, in partnership with the Arizona Humanities Council, presents Voices and Votes: Democracy in the US from Saturday, January 16 to Saturday, February 27 at Camp Verde Community Library, 130 Black Bridge Road. Designed for museums, libraries, and small-town cultural organizations, Voices and Votes will serve as community meeting places to exchange democracy, freedoms, and responsibilities of citizenship. of all ages and classes involved in government.
